Morphological Features of  Species

​

​​Unbranched filaments composed of spherical to slightly oval vegetative cells (3–6 μm in diameter) interspersed with intercalary heterocytes and akinetes. Filaments are enclosed within a mucilaginous sheath and occupy leaf cavities of the host fern, showing compact growth and cell wall modifications that facilitate metabolite exchange.
