Morphological Features of Species
​​Cells are elongate to ovoid, typically arranged in compact colonies that can be straight or slightly curved. Outer cells often develop long spines, while inner cells remain smooth. Each cell possesses a parietal chloroplast with a pyrenoid, and reproduction takes place asexually by autosporulation.
