Morphological Features of Species
​​Anabaena forms unbranched filaments, occurring either as solitary chains, loose clusters, or in large macroscopic mats. The cells are cylindrical, barrel-shaped, or spherical, with dimensions ranging from 2 to 10 μm in diameter. They may appear shorter or longer than wide and display colors from pale blue-green to bright blue-green or olive-green.
