Morphological Features of  Species

​Cells are unicellular, spherical to subspherical or ellipsoid, typically 2–10 μm in diameter. They lack flagella and occur as solitary cells. The cell wall is rigid, enclosing a single cup-shaped chloroplast without pyrenoids in some species.
